Explorative Pathways for Innovative Careers “EPIC” Campus

Littleton, Colorado

Work performed in collaboration with Cuningham Group

A priority focus of the adaptive reuse design process was to convert big portions of the existing impervious parking areas into a flexible, regenerative, and sustainable outdoor environment. These outdoor environments would act as a living environmental and ecological learning lab for students while addressing stormwater run-off and urban heat island effects previously neglected on site.

A variety of other learning opportunities were also incorporated as part of the design. The construction yard implemented as part of the outdoor learning environment is used for both training, as well as a means for students to address the emerging needs of the community.

The LPS Explorative Pathways for Innovative Careers “EPIC” Campus, is an educational facility focusing on providing opportunities in construction/aerospace trades, healthcare, and natural resource management. Students at the EPIC campus experience hands-on learning using state-of-the-art technology and innovative processes, enabling them to earn content credit, industry certifications, concurrent enrollment, and participate in work-based learning. Located in Littleton, Colorado, the facility was once an automotive repair shop and was transformed into an incredible learning environment with a wide variety of outdoor and indoor classroom spaces.
